Coach Joevanne "Dr. J" Estrada
Dr. Joevanné Estrada (Dr. J) is a visionary leader, industry connector, and champion of academic excellence. With over two decades of transformative experience in higher education, she has excelled in key roles across Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Athletics. Her innovative leadership has been instrumental in pioneering academic support initiatives and empowering diverse student populations—solidifying her reputation as a trailblazer in inclusive educational excellence.

Dr. Estrada’s distinctive career bridges higher education and athletics. She began her professional journey at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) shortly after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature in 2005. At WSSU, she served in multiple impactful roles, including Assistant Director of Athletic Events, Academic Advisor, and Cheerleading Coach. As her responsibilities expanded to include Compliance and Marketing, she also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Today, Dr. Estrada continues her mission of student empowerment in her current role as Executive Director of Academic Engagement at Central Piedmont, where she leads initiatives to enhance student success and institutional impact.
In 2007, Dr. Estrada known as, Coach Estrada, took HBCU cheerleading to new heights as Head Cheerleading Coach and Director of Cheerleading Operations at WSSU. Known for her enterprising and innovative coaching style, she revolutionized and transformed the landscape of stomp and shake cheerleading. During her seven-year tenure, she also served as a faculty member teaching physical education and as the Student-Athlete Affairs Coordinator, overseeing the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in stomp and shake cheerleading, Dr. Estrada brought the style into the national spotlight. Her dynamic approach—defined by technical precision, varied cadences, and bold, expressive movements—has captivated audiences across platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
Celebrated as the architect of mainstream HBCU cheerleading, she created and popularized many of the signature movements now iconic to the stomp and shake style. Today, Dr. Estrada continues to lead and innovate in the field as co-owner of UFIT Cheer, Inc., alongside business partner, Regan Hales. Through this platform, she advances the industry with a coaching philosophy that is both cutting-edge and uniquely her own.

Regan Hales is a visionary leader and powerhouse in the world of cheerleading, serving as the Founder and CEO of the National Stomp and Shake Cheerleading Federation (NSASCF) and Co-CEO | President of Strategy and Organizational Excellence at UFIT Cheer and Dance Inc. Widely recognized as the Visionaire of Stomp and Shake Cheerleading, Regan is pioneering the formal structure and national visibility of this culturally rich and athletically demanding sport.
At UFIT Cheer and Dance Inc.—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit—Regan oversees strategic growth, organizational effectiveness, and the development of transformative programming that empowers minority cheer-athletes. Established in 2012, UFIT is a national platform that specializes in advanced skill development, choreography, and hybrid training experiences, while also supporting higher education opportunities for student-athletes through scholarships, partnerships, and outreach initiatives.
